An Unselfish Spirit
James 1:22-27

Every Christian can have an unselfish spirit by applying the following three actions.
I. See What God Sees
The disciples saw a hungry crowd, but Jesus saw sheep not having a shepherd.
The disciples saw a storm, but Jesus saw a lesson.
The Pharisees saw a sinful woman as a pawn in their game, but Jesus saw a candidate for forgiveness.
Saul saw a little boy who needed lots of armor, but God saw an able warrior!

a. By being honest with yourself
James 1:22-27; 1 Samuel 16:7; Galatians 6:7
Your sin may not bother you, but it bothers God.

b. By being compassionate with others
Mark 6:34
The priest and the Levite saw the man on the side of the road, but didn’t SEE him.

II. Go Where God Goes
God goes to the blind, thirsty, hungry, hurting, lonely, and lost.

a. By emptying
Philippians 2:4-8; 2 Corinthians 8:9

b. By entering
John 18:4
To visit, in their afflictions.

III. Do What God Does
James 1:22

a. By bringing relief

b. By bringing reconciliation
2 Corinthians 5:17-18
